Creative Workshops
Indian Music, Culture and the Tabla Drum
Innovative and Inspiring
Keda Music design and deliver workshop programmes and masterclasses which creatively explore the culture and music of India with award-winning musician and composer Kuljit Bhamra MBE.
Material is presented in an inspiring and engaging way, ensuring that it appeals to the age-group of the class.
Engaging, with Hands-On Drumming
Kuljit is a lively facilitator. The students will get a hands-on experience of playing the tabla drum and also learn about many aspects of Indian culture. If required, other Indian instruments can be brought to the session to give an overview of the broad range.
Group Size and Duration
Programmes can be adjusted to suit your requirements and timetable.
As an example, a short assembly presentation and performance could be followed by two or three workshops during the course of the day.
Ideal group sizes are between 10 and 30 students.

Special thanks to the family of London-based tabla player the late John Jhalib Millar for donating his huge collection of drums to us. Without these, we would be unable to deliver workshops to such large groups.
I really enjoyed the workshop as I learnt many things that I didn’t know about the tabla drum as well as parts of Indian music and culture. The thing I enjoyed most about the workshop was learning several techniques of how to play this instrument. I would highly recommend this workshop to future students as it was fun and a great experience overall
CIARAN CROSS
I just wanted to say a big thank you on behalf of the children and staff at Emerson Valley for today’s workshop event. The children loved it and I feel I am a step closer in identifying how I can incorporate Indian music into the school.”
